Sculptor
or Painter ?

Working with the photo negatives of these rocky masses and her memory, CS explores like a sculptor the stress lines, she "chisels" the negative to bring out the figures hidden in their gangue. As a painter, she emphasizes the shadows, arranges the spaces, plays with the light and liberates the sensuality. In this way, the artist allows us to see human faces and bodies emerging from the inert rock. |

A
deliberate refusal
to accept traditional artistic limits |
|
The rigorous observation of nature in its organic and inorganic states and its composition are two constants in the artist's work. A continuous striving towards stark eloquence using classic materials such as paper and canvas while never refusing to experiment when new possibilities appear. CS doesn't recognize traditional taboos regarding the use of different media. For her photography, video and digital painting are all supports which can be used independently, but also combined in infinite permutations with the traditional media and techniques. |
